You can do so by clicking the metronome button right next to the count-in button in the upper right of the window. But in the app store, I cant find any options to do this. I want to update to the newest version that High Sierra can handle, so a version somewhere between 6.0.5 and the latest version. As far as I know, you have to manually turn on and off the metronome. Updating Garageband from 6.0.5 in High Sierra I cant update to the lastest version of Garageband because my Macbook is too old for Big Sur.
